Industrial gearbox repair, rebuilt to OEM specification.

From helical and planetary to split-herringbone and one-off obsolete units — Gear Force rebuilds every major class of industrial gearbox, anywhere in the United States, with a 3-year warranty on every job.

Industrial gearbox repair is the full teardown, inspection, and remanufacture of a failed gearbox to restore it to original OEM performance and reliability. At Gear Force Machine, our goal is to return your gearbox ready for service — whether that means a targeted repair or a complete rebuild.

We've been servicing industrial gearboxes since 1960. Our technicians work on foreign and domestic units, speed reducers and increasers, planetary and parallel-shaft designs, right-angle drives, and custom configurations from every major OEM. Every job includes non-destructive testing, written approval before work begins, and free pickup and delivery.

Repair vs. Replace

Why repair instead of replace?

A rebuilt gearbox is typically a fraction of the cost of a new OEM replacement, and we can usually deliver it in a fraction of the lead time. When your line is down, every hour counts — waiting six to twelve weeks for an OEM replacement is rarely an option.

A professional rebuild also addresses the root cause of failure. If a gearbox was damaged by a design flaw or a prior poor repair, a patch job only postpones the next failure. Our rebuild process includes NDT inspection on every component, failure analysis, and OEM-spec remanufacture — not a cosmetic fix. You get a unit that runs better than the one that failed, backed by a 3-year warranty.

Our Process

From diagnosis to delivery, in five steps.

  1. Evaluation & Diagnosis

Your gearbox arrives at our shop, is catalogued, and our technicians inspect the unit to identify the root cause of failure — not just the symptom.

  2. Detailed Synopsis & Approval

We deliver a written synopsis of the proposed repair — scope, parts, timeline, and cost — before any work begins. Nothing moves forward without your sign-off.

  3. Disassembly & NDT

The unit is fully disassembled and every component is subjected to non-destructive testing to surface cracks, wear, and fatigue invisible to the naked eye.

  4. Machining, Grinding & Parts Manufacturing

Damaged parts are machined, ground, welded, or manufactured from scratch in-house. Obsolete components are reverse-engineered so sourcing never stalls the job.

  5. Reassembly, Testing & Delivery

The rebuilt gearbox is reassembled to OEM specification, run-tested, and delivered to your facility — free pickup and delivery included, backed by our 3-year warranty.

Falk speed reducer — full rebuild to OEM spec.

A Falk parallel-shaft reducer arrived with heavy wear on the gear set and contaminated lube oil. We disassembled the unit, ran NDT on every component, remachined the shafts and journals, replaced bearings and seals, repainted the housing, and reassembled to original Falk specification. Run-tested and shipped under our 3-year warranty.

Custom Gear Cutting

We cut gears you can't buy anywhere else.

When the OEM is gone, the part is obsolete, or the lead time is impossible, we manufacture the gear. In-house. From scratch.

Up to 30 feet in diameter.

Our gear-cutting capabilities span nearly every geometry — from small pinions to the largest ring gears and mill drives in North American industry.

Questions we hear from plant managers.

Still not sure whether a rebuild is right for your situation? Call 832-729-9906 and ask. We'll give you a straight answer.

Gear Force Machine repairs and rebuilds every major class of industrial gearbox — including helical, herringbone, planetary, worm, bevel, spiral bevel, speed reducers and increasers, parallel shaft, right-angle, and custom configurations — to original OEM specifications. We service both foreign and domestic gearboxes across every major industrial application.

Turnaround varies with scope, but many repairs can be completed in as little as 24 hours while still meeting full OEM specifications. For full rebuilds, our in-house machine shop and gear manufacturing capabilities let us dramatically outpace OEM lead times.

Yes. We reverse-engineer obsolete gearboxes and manufacture hard-to-find parts in-house. You do not need original blueprints — our team can reproduce components from the failed parts themselves, restoring the gearbox to original working specifications.

A repair addresses specific failed components while retaining the core assembly. A full rebuild disassembles the gearbox completely, inspects every component with NDT, replaces or remanufactures wear parts, and reassembles to OEM specifications. When damage is caused by a design flaw or prior poor repair, a rebuild is the only real solution — a patch repair only postpones the next failure.
