Extruder Repair · Nationwide · 24/7

Extruders rebuilt to run harder than they did new.

Screws, barrels, and gearboxes for every major OEM. Single-screw, twin-screw, and conical. Nationwide pickup, 24/7 emergency response, and a 12-month warranty on screw repair.

Extruder repair covers the three wear points that define machine life: the screw, the barrel, and the drive gearbox. Gear Force rebuilds all three in-house for single-screw and twin-screw machines across every major OEM — reverse-engineering obsolete components when OEM replacements are gone.

Most rebuilds ship in two to six weeks, with 24/7 emergency service when a line is down. Every job includes a written condition report, line-item pricing before work begins, and free pickup and delivery nationwide from our Rosharon, TX headquarters.

Capabilities

Three wear points. One accountability chain.

Screw, barrel, and gearbox — rebuilt under one roof, inspected together, shipped matched. No multi-vendor coordination; no pointing fingers when something doesn't run right.

Screw Repair

Worn or damaged screws — single-flight, twin-flight, conical — rebuilt to OEM spec or upgraded with modern coatings. Hardfacing, re-chroming, flight geometry restoration, and dimensional verification on every flight. Backed by a 12-month warranty.

  • Flight hardfacing & carbide inlay
  • Re-chroming & Ni-based coatings
  • Reverse engineering of obsolete screws

Extruder Barrel Rebuilding

Rebuilding a worn extrusion or injection barrel is dramatically faster and cheaper than replacement — often weeks faster and a fraction of the cost. We re-line, re-bore, and re-nitride barrels up to the largest production sizes.

  • Bi-metallic and nitrided liners
  • Cooling channel repair
  • Bore honing to ≤ 0.001" tolerance

Extruder Gearbox Repair

No extruder gearbox is too big. We rebuild reducers from every major drive OEM, replace bearings and seals, re-cut gears in-house, and pressure-test before the unit ships. Three-year warranty on the gearbox rebuild.

  • Bearing & seal replacement
  • Gear re-cutting & inspection
  • Thrust-bearing rebuild
Rebuild vs. Replace

Rebuilding pays for itself before the new unit even ships.

A new extruder on a six- to twelve-month lead time is not a repair plan — it's a capital project. Rebuilding the existing machine is usually 20–40% of replacement cost and measured in weeks, not quarters. We pull the screw, inspect the barrel, tear down the gearbox, and tell you honestly what needs replacement versus what can be rebuilt to spec.

For obsolete OEMs — NRM, Egan, Prodex, legacy Cincinnati Milacron, early Berstorff — OEM parts simply don't exist anymore. We reverse-engineer the screw, barrel, or gear set from the worn part, document the geometry, and manufacture the replacement in-house. Your machine runs again; the line runs again.

Our Process

Diagnose · Quote · Rebuild · Test · Ship.

  1. Diagnose

On-site or in-shop teardown. We measure flight wear, barrel bore, gearbox backlash, and journal run-out. You get a written condition report with photos.

  2. Quote

Line-item pricing — what gets rebuilt, what gets replaced, what it costs, and when it ships. No surprises mid-job.

  3. Rebuild

Screws re-fluted, hardfaced, and re-chromed in our shop. Barrels re-lined or re-bored. Gearboxes torn down to the housing, all bearings and seals replaced, gears re-cut where needed.

  4. Test

Dimensional inspection on every component. Gearboxes get a loaded run-in plus pressure test. Screws get straightness and OD verification to ≤ 0.001".

  5. Ship

Free pickup and delivery nationwide. Packaged for the road, documented with the full rebuild report, and warrantied.

In-House Manufacturing

Screws and barrels built from a drawing — or from the worn part.

When the OEM is gone or the part number has aged out, we reverse-engineer from the component in hand, CAD the geometry, and machine the replacement in our own shop. Single-flight, twin-flight, conical, barrier, mixing — whatever your process needs. We hold straightness to 0.001" per foot on screws up to 30 feet long.

Frequently Asked

Questions we hear from extruder operators.

Not sure whether to rebuild the screw, the barrel, or both? Call 832-729-9906 and we'll walk through it with you.

Yes. We rebuild single-screw, co-rotating twin-screw, counter-rotating twin-screw, and conical twin-screw machines. Any OEM, any size from lab-scale to the largest production units.

Most gearbox rebuilds ship in two to six weeks depending on the size, condition, and parts availability. Emergency jobs on a downed line get prioritized — call 832-729-9906 and we'll start the same day when possible.

Yes, and we recommend it. Rebuilding a screw to OEM OD without addressing barrel wear leaves you with the same throughput problem in six months. We measure both, rebuild both, and ship them matched.

Constantly. If the OEM is out of business or the part has aged out — NRM, Egan, Prodex, early Cincinnati Milacron, legacy Berstorff, and dozens more — we reverse-engineer from the worn part, CAD the geometry, and manufacture the replacement in-house.

We hold OD to ≤ 0.001" on finished diameter and straightness to 0.001" per foot of length. Flight geometry is verified against OEM drawings or the reverse-engineered profile before the screw ships.

Yes. Re-lining is faster and typically a fraction of the cost of a new barrel. We install bi-metallic or nitrided liners to match the wear profile of your process, re-bore to spec, and verify the finish before the barrel ships.

Yes. Extruder downtime costs too much to wait for business hours. Call 832-729-9906 any time — we'll have a technician on the phone and a plan for pickup or on-site response within the hour.

Twelve months on screw repair and rebuilding, three years on gearbox rebuilds. The warranty covers workmanship and replaced components under normal operating conditions.

Same disciplines, different finishes and materials. Pharma and food jobs use stainless components, electropolished finishes, and documented material traceability. Plastics compounding jobs prioritize hardfacing and wear resistance. Tell us the process and we'll spec accordingly.

Free pickup and delivery nationwide, with screws crated individually and gearboxes rigged for lowboy or flatbed transport. Every rebuild ships with the written condition report, rebuild documentation, and warranty card.
